Dr. Tapp's Thought's
If you spend any amount of time on social media, you know that there is no shortage of people running commentary on how you should live your life, structure your day, spend your time and money, what you should believe in, and what is and is not “acceptable” based on their opinion and worldview.
It’s tiring, don’t you agree?
Living really well means learning how to filter noise from your truth, and your fears from your values.
I don’t just teach my patients how to be healthy; I teach them how to live a life that lights them up and to refrain from outsourcing life decisions to other people… which means a little bit of coaching along the way.
So buckle in, here comes a bit of Dr. T’s encouragement to live your life in alignment with what actually makes you happy. Not every choice you make has to be a BIG statement. Sometimes it’s just a decision that makes sense for you.
Personal or professional growth rarely comes from playing small and waiting for permission. It comes from clarity. From knowing what matters to you and being willing to stand there, even when others take a different path.
This applies to your health, your boundaries, your energy, to how much of yourself you give away trying to keep the peace, and how often you ignore the quiet voice that says, “no”.
That fatigue you’re experiencing isn’t burnout, that hurdle you just can’t get over to reach your goals… It’s the tension between the truth you know and the role you keep performing.
This is self-betrayal, and it’s so tiring, but it doesn’t have to be your reality.
My hope this month is simple: that you give yourself permission to make choices rooted in self-trust. That you try stripping away from this performance so you can come home to yourself. I want you to live a life that feels so incredibly right in your body, so choose what fuels YOU, always.
Let other people choose what THEY need to. I promise you, it’s not selfish.
What is something that fuels me and helps me live my truth? Being a perpetual learner and educator at heart. That commitment is part of how I show up for my patients and for you, year after year, for the past 14 years.
Last week, I attended the annual Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians conference. It’s my favourite conference, and I’m looking forward to getting back to practice and sharing the inspiration and clinical insight I’ve soaked up.
I also have two more major conferences planned later this year, both focused on chronic, complex health, and I can’t wait to share those insights at that time!

When it comes to breast cancer, nutrition advice online ranges from “eliminate sugar” to “eat this one superfood daily.”
Neither extreme reflects the evidence.
The research on diet and breast cancer prevention doesn’t point to miracle foods or one single habit.
It points to ongoing dietary patterns, metabolic health, and long-term habits that influence inflammation, insulin signalling, and estrogen metabolism.
