Dr. Tapp's Thought's
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2026 and to the year of follow-through. In December, I shared a framework to help you clarify who you want to become in the new year: F-H-A-T-E (pronounced fate): Focus, Habits, Anchor, Tolerance, Emotion.
I asked you to reflect on this and write your FHATE manifesto for 2026. But I realized something important: I asked you to be honest and introspective without sharing my own process.
So this month, I want to go first. Not as your naturopathic doctor, not as a clinic owner, but simply as a human committed to growth, and growth alongside you. I never want to ask you to reflect on your life and your health in ways I’m not willing to do myself. Here's my 2026 F-H-A-T-E manifesto:
Focus: This year, I am focused on growth, both personally and professionally. Specifically, I release the need for approval and no longer waste energy wondering what others think of me. My attention belongs to my goals, my dreams, and the life I’m building.
Habits: I move my body with intention and strength. I nourish it with food that supports clarity, vitality, and confidence. I choose thoughts and emotions that match the frequency of the life I’m calling in.
Anchor: My anchor is Mike, my steady reminder that I am supported, loved, and never alone in my pursuit of growth. When I waver, I return to that truth: I am grounded in partnership, trust, and shared purpose.
Tolerance: I will no longer tolerate narratives that make me small. I reject the idea that ambition equals greed. I refuse limiting mindsets that suggest we must operate from scarcity in opportunity, in health, or in possibility. I am someone who leads from abundance, believes in generosity, and knows that success amplifies impact.
Emotion: Why does all this matter? Because I want my life, personally and professionally, to be rooted in purpose, meaning, and genuine enjoyment.
Now that I’ve shared mine, I want to hold space for yours. Feel free to hit reply on this email and share it with me.
Your January Check-In:
Focus: What deserves your attention in Q1?
Habits: Which one habit, practiced consistently this week, would shift your energy?
Anchor: Who or what brings you back to centre when life gets loud?
Tolerance: What are you done tolerating? Truly, stop tolerating it right now.
Emotion: What feeling are you chasing this year, and did your actions this month honour it?
Because the first quarter of 2026 is the runway for the remainder of the year, let’s start it off, not with a resolution, but with your manifesto instead.
You get to decide how you take off!

Using The InBody Scale
If you’re looking for a way to track your health and wellness goals this year, we’d like to introduce you to the InBody scale. Traditional scales only tell you how much you weigh, which leaves out many critical health details, including:
Lean muscle mass
Skeletal muscle mass
Fat-free mass (bone and muscle)
Visceral fat
Body water content
Extracellular to intracellular water ratio
Body composition pattern
Cell phase angle
…and more!
You’re so much more than one singular number on the scale, and InBody’s in-depth measurements allow us to gain a more complete picture of your body composition and identify additional health risks like inflammation, edema, and more.
Use of the InBody scale during an appointment with our practitioners is available at no cost to you. If you wish to use it outside of your appointment, the fee is $25. Our reception team is available to support your check-ins from Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Courtney Cartmel, RAc. Is Now Offering Microneedling
We're excited to share that Courtney has been working hard behind the scenes to expand her services and will begin offering microneedling to her patients this month.
As a perfect complement to her cosmetic acupuncture services, microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that helps to stimulating the body's natural healing process to produce new collagen and elastin. This results in smoother, firmer, and more toned skin, and helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and more.
To begin, microneedling appointments will not be bookable online, and we ask that you contact reception or chat with Courtney at your next follow-up to get started. If you're not currently a patient of hers and would like to explore microneedling, please book a discovery call to learn more.

While we’re tossing resolutions aside this year in favour of something more intentional, the FHATE Manifesto, I do want to touch on something truly important.
Part of my FHATE manifesto is doing more of what I love, and what brings me joy is teaching you the lesser-known things that meaningfully impact your health in ways Google and ChatGPT simply can’t strategize for you. So let’s talk about sleep apnea and weight loss. This is one of the most overlooked barriers I see, especially in women, and one that could be the hidden reason your progress has stalled.
Here’s the truth I wish more people knew: If you’re doing everything right and the scale still won’t budge, your problem might not be your hormones, diet, metabolism, or willpower. It might be sleep apnea.
